Some guidance on the Portal.

Thanks to the anonymous commenter, who kindly contacted the Bar Council, here's some guidance on how to use the mysterious pupillage portal:

Unlike in the previous season applications are submitted one Pupillage at a time to allow applications to be more tailored to individual chambers. As such on the new site you need to apply to your first pupillage and submit.

Once this has been submitted your application will return and allow you to apply to another chambers.

You will be able to tailor the sections ‘Your application details’, ‘Additional information/Covering letter’ and ‘Pupillage application questionnaire’ before submitting for your second choice. You can do this for up to a maximum of 12 providers.

The clearing form can either be filled in once you have applied to the 12 or after you have heard back about the 12 you applied to i.e. when the clearing round opens. Please note however once you have submitted your application for clearing it will not be possible to edit it.

As regards the form, chambers will be able to see your whole form at once so your answers should 'flow through'.

I just copied the questions into Word - I'm not uploading anything until they sort the 'portal' out! :)

I have to vent this to somewhere because I don't think you can complain to Bar Council of BSB about it.

Due to the, up until yesterday, errors with the stupid portal, re search results, I missed Friday's deadline for a pupillage to start in two weeks time.

They will not look at my application because apparently lots of people didn't have this problem.

I do not see how lots of people did not have the problem with the stupid website because its only just been fixed. Unless lots of people kep refreshing the search buttons on OLPAS and looked at every single chambers all the way to the end of the alphabet. as there was no sort either.

No newsflash. No proper way of searching. No info on their website re when pupillage would be up or the deadline would be.

I HATE THE PUPILLAGE PORTAL.
